Chemfilm / Conversion Coating

Chemfilm has many uses in metal finishing, most commonly to help protect against corrosion and is also an excellent base for painting for example.

Also known as alodine, iridite and chromate conversion coating, this process is typically applied to an aluminum parts to offer the improvements listed above.

Furthermore, this deposit allows the part to remain electrically conductive, making it attractive for a variety of industry applications.

Chemfilm Conversion Coating

Also known as iridite coating, chemfilm creates a protective layer on the outside of an aluminum part. But it also serves the purpose of providing a base layer for painting, and provides good corrosion protection. Furthermore, it can help protect against the loss of electrical conductivity.

A chromate conversion coating is common in heat sinks, automotive wheels, and everyday aluminum hardware for example. Conversely, for aerospace applications, such coatings are used on aircraft hulls, struts, landing gear and more.

Additionally, Techmetals offers a variety of similar metal plating options, including Silver Plating, Optical Coatings and PVD Coatings. With over 50 years in the industry, we truly are your one-stop-shop for metal plating and performance coatings.
