Considered non-toxic and non-carcinogenic, Tin plating is a typical material used in engineering, communications and consumer products for example.
Additionally, this material offers an affordable finish, electric conductivity, and excellent corrosion protection.
To that end, Techmetals utilizes tin for specific metal projects that require many of the attributes listed above.
With this in mind, both bright and matte (solderable) finishes are available for plating. The former being preferred for electrical contact solutions where soldering is not necessary.
However, the matte solution of tin electroplating does have a limited life when used in soldering. Techmetals can improve the life span for soldering through preparation of the substrate and properly specifying the deposit.
Our process also reduces whisker (pest) growth in cold temperatures as well.
Benefits of Tin Plating:
Non-toxic
Non-carcinogenic
Electrically conductive
Alkaline Tin (Matte) is optimal for soldering
